1.
Boracay The most scenic and beautiful beach resort,
but the island is dead in terms of nightlife. If you come
here, be sure to bring your own girl along. Bring your camera
for some great shots. Very romantic; crystal clear water
to swim in. Philippine Airlines has daily flights. Consult
the Swagman Travel Agency at the Swagman Hotel (Manila or
Angeles City) for reservations and travel arrangements.
2. Puerto Gallera In competition with Subic Bay,
this is the best combination of beach and nightlife you
will find (although neither the nightlife or beach is really
anything to rave about). The coral reefs are pretty much
ruined from the Filipino fishermen throwing explosives into
the water (to catch fish). There are only a handful of bars,
so it's probably best to bring your own girlfriend along.
You can rent bungalow's right on the open beach for dirt
cheap. Bring lots of mosquito cream.
3. La Union The Hussies' (Australian tourists) favorite
destination. About a five hour bus ride out of Manila. Although
there are a few scattered bars, it's best you bring your
own girlfriend. Stay at the Coconut Grove Hotel and take
the 200 peso ($5) boat ride in the morning to any of the
outer islands. Bring lots of sun tan lotion and mosquito
cream. Bring ear plugs on the boat excursions (they are
noisy!).
4. Subic Bay The former home of the U.S. Subic Naval
Base. Although the city once housed the largest red light
district in the world (more than 15,000 registered prostitutes),
there are now only three bars worth visiting (Tahiti Club,
Fox Hole, and Muff Divers). Although the nightlife is limited,
there are enough bar girls to keep you entertained for a
two or three day trip. Stay at By The Sea Hotel, located
right on the water (which is clean enough to swim in). Ignore
the obnoxious vendors on the beach who will plague you to
death with their endless attempts to get you to buy anything
and everything they are selling (which is usually pure crap).
5.
Angeles City The best in terms of nightlife and the
worst in terms of scenery (the town is disgustingly filthy).
Angeles is a two hour bus ride from the nearest beach (Subic).
It's is the former home of the U.S. Clark Air Force Base
and once housed over 12,000 "hospitality girls" (a euphemism
for prostitute). Currently Angeles has over fifty active
bars jam packed with the friendliest and most affectionate
girls in the world. Spend a few nights in Angeles (if you
can tolerate the filth and pollution) and once you find
the girl of your dreams, take her to one of the "islands
of love" (i.e., Boracay or La Union). Recommended bars:
La Bamba, Illusions, Butterfly, Y-bar, Private Dancer
